ROBERT OPEL'S BIRTHDAY TEA SALON

ROBERT OPEL 
was the gay rights activist, nudist, anarchist, photographer, artist, provocateur, 
rebel~ rouser and creator of FEY WAY STUDIOS; the first fetish/homoerotic art gallery, (1978-79).

robert started off as a speech writer for ronald reagan,(1973)  then made a 360 political switch working as a photographer for the advocate and the star magazines. during the academy awards presentation of 1975, robert streaked live across the stage sealing is 15 minutes of fame. making him a cult-figure in american history.
in 1978, robert opened fey way studios on howard st. SOMA, SF. the first homoerotic art gallery, and one of the first to create the culture of folsom st, SOMA. 
at fey way robert exhibited mapplethorpe, tom of finland, etienne, the hun, rex, chuck arnet and numerous other homoerotic artists for their first exhibits.
last feb 14th ANTEBELLUM HOLLYWOOD along with robert's nephew~ ROBERT OPPEL presented FEY WAY: THE ROBERT OPEL STORY, an exhibit featuring the original art that was on display the night robert was murdered in his gallery, july 7th, 1978.

thursday~ october 2rd, 2014 would be robert's 75th birthday. 
come to antebellum and have a cuppa tea in remembrance of robert opel.
